ABOUT · THE RECORD

Anyone can tell you what was reported. We tell you what held up.

The RedMsg Daily Brief is a daily Manchester United newsletter with one unusual habit: every claim we publish is recorded, scored against its source, and revisited when it resolves.

OUR NORTH STAR

Intelligence with a memory.

Transfer season produces a great deal of noise and very little accountability. Every claim about a target goes into an append-only evidence ledger with its source and that source's tier, and is scored daily into a state: rising, watching, cooling, signed, departed, dead. The brief reports the state, not the excitement.

RECEIPTS

We show our working.

When a claim resolves we publish what was predicted, what happened, and whether the reporting held up. Sometimes a reporter is right about the state of a deal and the deal dies anyway. We print that too.

A score measures how loud a target is. A bucket measures what we are prepared to say about him. The brief never confuses the two.

HOW IT IS MADE

Written once, checked before it is sent.

Each morning's brief is compiled from the evidence ledger, the day's stories and our own fixture calendar, then run through a wall of automated checks before anyone sees it. An emailed issue can never be corrected, so nothing here predicts, nothing claims more certainty than its source supports, and every figure carries the name attached to it.

The desk publishes at 07:00, every day.
