Lucy Newell started England's 5-1 win over Tanzania and began the move for their fourth goal
Lucy Newell made her first start of the Under-20 World Cup as England beat Tanzania 5-1 on Tuesday, playing in defence and starting the move that produced the fourth goal: nine consecutive passes ending with Lily Dent picking out Rachel Maltby, who claimed a first-half hat-trick at the Bielsko-Biala Stadium. The FA's own match report credits Newell with the start of that sequence. Layla Drury, the squad's other United player, came on for Lia on 80 minutes, having also been used from the bench against Canada on Saturday. Both remain in Lydia Bedford's group as England prepare to face Brazil for top spot in Group B.

Academy sentiment rose on a small, three-item sample driven by Camacho-Sidos's exam haul. Ownership, manager, first-team and women's layers stayed quiet, too thin to read.
Player in Focus
Marcus Rashford
2 mentions on the day's count, sentiment neutral. That is a thin base and we read the trend as noise.
Two mentions, thin by any standard. Rashford is neither on United's absentee list nor declared fit for Thursday's Champions League opener; not even Carrick has said which side of that line he sits.
Still neither ruled out nor declared fit for Thursday: no club absentee list carries him and no club source names an injury. Nothing we have read has him training, available or selected either.

Quote worth keeping
Lydia Bedford, England's Under-20 head coach, after Tuesday's 5-1 win over Tanzania that started Newell and brought Drury off the bench.
We’ve now had everyone on the pitch apart outside of our two spare goalkeepers, so I think that’s a really strong place to be as a squad going into our last group game
